The University of Dundee is pleased to announce that the Botanic Garden Coffee Shop is
under new management.
Taking over at the helm will be Shona Romanowska, originally from Biggar, Lanarkshire.
Shona is an Honours graduate of Duncan of Jordanstone and has made Dundee her home
since 1997.
Shona and her family currently own and successfully operates three Coffee Shops: Daisies
in Lanark, Willows in Broughty Ferry and Rowans in St Andrews.
Under its new management, the Botanic Garden Coffee Shop will provide specialist coffees,
delicious like meals and the best of home baking, which have proved to be a recipe for
success for Shona's existing three Coffee Shops. In addition to this, the Plant and Gift
Shop presently in situ will remain and continue to offer quality plants and souvenirs
for sale.
In running the Botanic Garden Coffee Shop, Shona will be ably assisted by Angie Wilson. Angie
is a former pupil of Harris Academy, Dundee and has a wealth of experience in the licensing trade
and hospitality industry.
We at the University are delighted to be working hand in hand with Shona and her team to raise
the profile and standards of the Botanic Garden itself and the Coffee, Gift Shop and Plant Centre,
to ensure the continued satisfaction of our regular customers and that new customers enjoy an experience
they will want to repeat!!
Established in February 2001, we offer a wide
range of plants for sale to the public (including the unusual) at
permanently low prices. Unlike other plant retailers, ALL our stock
is grown locally, by experienced horticulturalists, to be hardy
during the Scottish winter weather.
Free help and advice is available from our plant centre staff, on
garden design, planting schemes, pruning, aftercare etc, and gardening
reference books are on hand in the Coffee Shop for useful tips and
information.
A walk round the Botanic Gardens can prove invaluable when thinking
of choosing

plants for your garden,
as many of the plants and trees can be seen at their mature size.
(Many plants and trees can be kept smaller by regular pruning if
space is restricted in a small garden). As well as plants and trees,
we sell a range of composts, fertilizers, hanging baskets, pots
and containers.
Our environmentally friendly plant pot-recycling scheme has already
been a great success. Used plastic pots and containers donated by
the public are reused by ourselves (helping to keep our prices down)
or sent to various horticulture education centres and horticulture
therapy units.
